Ow, she's a brick house

In an earlier post, I talked about my recent bathroom remodeling project. But I haven’t told you the epic tale leading up to the total makeover.

As a child, do you remember when you came to the surprising realization that your parents weren't perfect? For me, I cannot pinpoint any particular event that triggered this awareness. But, I do remember that when the reality of their sinfulness hit me, the fictitious pedestal I had invented was suddenly kicked out from under them.

Sometime ago, I helped my employer implement an online job application process. We needed a way to efficiently collect information about each applicant, put it into a database, and give our hiring managers a way to find the best applicant for each job opening.

When I was about 21 years old, my Dad helped my younger brother and I buy a condo. It was an interesting arrangement because he technically paid for ALL of the upfront costs, yet my name was listed as one of the owners. My Dad paid the mortgage each month, and he asked me to pay less than 1/3 of the actual cost. My only responsibility was to pay for utilities and some minor upkeep.
