WHICH IS THE ULTIMATE POWER?
Bob Stiles
When you think about power, what comes to your mind? Do you think of the President of the United States? Do you think about an atomic bomb? Do you think about Satan? Do you think about God? Which is the ultimate power?
Ephesians 1:19-22: “19I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of His power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power 20that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. 21Now He is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else in this world or in the world to come. 22And God has put all things under the authority of Christ, and He gave him this authority for the benefit of the church.”
What does Paul tell you about God’s power in today’s passage? If you think about the power represented in the questions above, you know the answer to today’s question. The power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is the ultimate power! The President of the United States, the atomic bomb and Satan are extremely powerful, but none can compare to Christ’s resurrection power! In fact, God created President Bush, the atom, and even Satan. According to Paul, Christ’s power is above all others. The amazing truth is that this power is available to us, as Christ’s followers, each and every day. There is nothing too difficult for Him. We don’t have to fear any nation, ruler or enemy, or even Satan himself. Christ’s victory over sin, death and hell is the ultimate power!
Are you relying on this power to live every day? Praise God for raising Christ from the dead! Thank Him for the promise of His resurrection power to help you live every day. Confess the ways in which you may be trying to live your life in your own strength rather than relying on God’s power. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the trusting faith you need every day to utilize Christ’s resurrection power. Write down a list of needs or challenges in your life such as…hurting relationships, temptation, discipline in your life, wisdom for decisions, courage to share your faith, fear, a health problem, dating life, marriage…etc. Every day, in obedient faith, pray for Christ’s resurrection power to impact each item on your list. Watch God work!
